What are the differences between the releases of Endeavour®?
Endeavour® was first released in 1995 to the general public as Endeavour Navigator 3.0, to coincide with the release of the Seafarer© Raster Nautical Charts (RNC).
Since then, it has gone through several generations. In trying to make the best product for our clients, we have incorporated a lot of feedback. From a general purpose navigational product (3.0), we created separate editions for “Professional” use (in Versions 3 and 4), then revamped Endeavour for our ECDIS compliant release (Version 5.0). This brought in a controversial new look to Endeavour. As technology has changed we have incorporated USB dongles, new chart formats, upgrading to changing International standards, different versions of Windows™, adapted to new hardware on the market, responded to user needs and have discovered the great variety of ways our product is used!
Below is a list of the versions of Endeavour. To find out what has changed – especially if you are considering upgrading – You can read forward from the version you have (i.e. if you have Version 4.0, start reading from 4.1).
