ENC Validation – ENC Analyzer 2.5.0 released. ENC Analyzer checks aligned with S-58 edition 3.0 and can now use customer created rules.

SevenCs and HSA are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of ENC Analyzer, the world’s leading ENC Validation tool. ENC Analyzer now checks edition 3.0 of the IHO’s recommended ENC validation checks, S-58, released February 2007, the new objects and attributes that have been introduced in S-57 edition 3.1.1 plus it allows users to create organisation specific custom rules.

Whilst ENC Analyzer is continually being upgraded to align it with the latest standards, it is also being enhanced to cover all phases of production to ensure
S-57 products are compliant and correct.

Recent enhancements to the application have focused on the distribution and management of data and include:

  • Cell header summaries that allow detailed product information to be interrogated exported and retained for management records.
  • Exchange set checking ensuring that the ENC ROOT directory contains all of the files recorded in the CATALOG file.  It also checks for files that should not be there.
  • ENC update validation to make sure the latest update adds or removes data without breaking the ENC.

Consistency of S-57 products is essential. Even though ENC Analyzer uses over 800 ENC checks they do not cover the specific encoding requirements of some producers.  It is now possible for organisations to create custom checks and test data using these checks. These checks do not supersede the IHO checks and are reported separately.

For manufacturers of products other than ENCs ENC Analyzer also checks AML edition 1.0, Inland ECDIS edition 1.0.2 and 2.0.  These products are automatically identified when loaded and the appropriate checks applied to the cell(s).

Version 2.4 is currently being distributed to clients on support agreements. ENC Analyzer is an integral element of the SevenCs ENC Tools suite but it can also operate independently.

ENC Analyzer has been developed cooperatively between SevenCs and HSA Systems.

HSA Systems supporting the Operation Pilgrimage Group Following the Krait 2008 expedition

In 1943 a group of 11 Australian and 4 British army and navy personnel left Australia and traveled 33 days through Japanese-dominated waters in the old fishing boat before sinking 7 Japanese ships in Singapore Harbour and returning to Australia unscathed.

Three ex-Australian Army commandos (members of the Operation Pilgrimage Group) are reliving the "Krait" exploit to raise money for Legacy. Leaving Sydney June 1, 2008 they expect to arrive in Singapore in September 2008, on the 65th anniversary of the original daring attack.

HSA Systems are providing a web site tracking the expedition over the next four months. Follow their journey by visiting the web site followthekrait.com.au
