ENC Analyzer 2.2 released. ENC Analyzer now checks ENC, Inland ECDIS and Additional Military Layers (AML)
Quality control is integral to the manufacture and maintenance of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC). Charts must be checked for adherence to the standards, accuracy and encoding consistency. As a Hydrographic authority or data manufacturer your reputation is on the line so you want the most comprehensive validation tool on the market. That tool is ENC Analyzer!
ENC Analyzer provides quality assurance of S-57 Electronic Navigation Charts (ENC), Additional Military Layers (AML), and Inland ECDIS data sets. More than 30 manufacturers of S-57 data sets use ENC Analyzer as a validation tool. Based on the feedback received from these users since 1996 the system has been continually enhanced and improved.
ENC Analyzer version 2.2 now checks ENC version 3.1, AML version 1.0 and InlandECDIS version 1.02, products.

HSA completes Zones of Confidence (ZOCs) project for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)
HSA recently completed an 18 month project for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) to assess and assign Zones of Confidence (ZOC's) to all hydrographic surveys incorporated in the entire portfolio of the 138 hydrographic charts of New Zealand.
The project required each hydrographic survey to be assessed in relation to the data quality aspects of the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) S-57 Standard. The application of an extensive local knowledge of hydrographic surveying practices undertaken in New Zealand was crucial to the project.
The use of the ENC Designer ZOC tool set (developed specifically by HSA), was an important aid that assisted in completing the project well ahead of the projected delivery date. For more information about this project see the Zones of Confidence case study.

ReefView - HSA's First Operational Application using Google Earth Released
Pilot companies servicing the Great Barrier Reef are now benefiting from near real-time vessel position information thanks to HSA and Google Earth technology. Developed in conjunction with AMSA and Maritime Safety Queensland, ReefView provides a 10 minute update of vessel position, along with essential vessel data, such as speed, course, length, flag and whether or not a pilot has embarked.
Pilots must travel several hours in some instances to connect with a transiting vessel. The information provided by ReefView, along with a live web page that identifies vessels that are approaching the various pilot boarding grounds, enables the pilot companies to schedule the delivery and pickup of pilots from vessels with much great efficiency.
For more details on ReefView and HSA's Google Earth initiatives, see here.

ENC Cartographer version 1.2 Released
The latest addition to the ENC Tools family, ENC Cartographer is used for the semi-automated generation of INT1/INT2 paper charts from S-57 Electronic Navigation Chart data sets. The concept is to near automatically derive (and maintain), an organisations paper chart requirements from a single source ENC Database. ENC Cartographer achieves this by utilising the rich ENC geometry and attributes in conjunction with a highly tuned rules engine.
